IRBID — Greater Irbid Municipality employees on Monday held a protest to demand higher salaries.
Participants said they were organising an open-ended sit-in after all channels of communication with the Ministry of Municipal Affairs “collapsed”.
Irbid Mayor Hussein Bani Hani said the municipality had tried to initiate a discussion with the concerned parties to work out a proposed solution but protesters refused and went ahead with the strike, prompting the municipality to penalise them.
