Internal medicine conference opens

AMMAN — The 13th international conference of the Jordan Medical Association's internal medicine experts society opened on Tuesday, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported. 

Participants at the three-day conference, organised in cooperation with the Royal Society of Edinburgh and inaugurated by HRH Princess Basma, are discussing 50 research papers on the latest scientific developments in the field of internal medicine. 

At the opening ceremony, Princess Basma stressed the importance of health aspect, which came in third place within the goals of the UN 2030 agenda for sustainable development, focusing on ensuring a healthy lifestyle for all ages. 

The princess highlighted the importance of international cooperation and exchange of expertise to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.

Health, she said, drives sustainable development policies, stressing that Jordan's healthcare sector is one of the most advanced at the regional level, thanks to the plans and projects aimed at its enhancement.

Also speaking at the conference, Health Minister Ali Hiasat said the ministry gives a great deal of attention to internal medicine, ensuring that a department for this specialty is available at each of its hospitals.

 

On the sidelines of the conference, Princess Basma inaugurated an exhibition, where 25 local and international pharmaceutical companies are showcasing their products.
