AMMAN — Interior Minister Salameh Hammad and Unicef Jordan Representative Ettie Higgins on Wednesday discussed the prospects of bilateral cooperation and the organisation’s role in supporting refugees and host communities, especially in the fields of health, maternity and children as well as education.
The official reaffirmed the need of striking balance between supporting refugees and host communities, stressing that the international community should shoulder its responsibility towards the refugees crisis.
Talks also covered the Kingdom’s need to implement productive pilot projects, which generate job opportunities for host communities to alleviate the impacts of the crisis.
Higgins praised the Jordanian government for its role in supporting refugees and meeting their requirements, highlighting the importance of the initiatives made by UN organisations, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
