AMMAN — Minister of Interior Mazen Faraya arrived in Damascus on Wednesday to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral relations and expand cooperation, particularly in the security field.

Faraya was received at Tishreen Palace by Syrian Interior Minister Anas Khattab and senior Syrian officials. The visit marks the first by an Arab interior minister to Syria since the fall of the former regime.

Upon arrival, Faraya condemned the recent terrorist bombings in Damascus, reaffirming Jordan’s full solidarity with Syria in confronting terrorism and protecting civilians, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

He also expressed confidence in Syria’s ability to advance reconstruction efforts and enhance security and stability.

During talks, Faraya and Khattab discussed mechanisms to strengthen bilateral cooperation, including joint training programmes, the development of border crossings and efforts to combat drug smuggling.
