AMMAN — Interior Minister Mazen Farayah on Tuesday paid tribute to the Jordan Armed Forces–Arab Army (JAF) in a post on the social media platform X, commending their achievements at the international, regional and national levels.
Marking Army Day, Farayah described the sacrifices and efforts of the armed forces as a source of pride for all Jordanians. He noted that the JAF has deployed hundreds of thousands of troops on peacekeeping missions in conflict zones across Europe, Africa, Asia and North America.
Farayah also highlighted the army’s humanitarian efforts abroad, citing the establishment of field hospitals in conflict-affected and impoverished countries, including the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Liberia, Afghanistan and Côte d'Ivoire.
At the regional level, the JAF has extended its support to neighbouring countries by setting up field hospitals in Libya, Iraq and Palestine, and continues to provide healthcare for those affected by the war in Gaza, he said adding that the army has also led land and air relief operations to aid Palestinians facing aggression and displacement.
Domestically, Farayah underscored the army’s vital role in securing Jordan’s land, sea and air borders with professionalism and vigilance. He also pointed to the military’s development contributions, such as cultivating agricultural land in Baqourah and Ghamr and delivering healthcare services to nearly 40 per cent of the population through its nationwide network of hospitals.
He also praised the army’s support for education, particularly through the operation of schools in remote and underserved areas.
“This is an army that deters aggression, spreads peace, and contributes to development. This is the army that Jordanians want,” Farayah said.
