AMMAN — Jordanian industry representatives on Sunday said that the COSMOPROF Worldwide Bologna 2018 represents an opportunity to promote Jordanian cosmetics industries and Dead Sea products worldwide.

At a roadshow held in Amman with the participation of Jordanian, Syrian, Iraqi and Palestinian businesspeople from the cosmetic sector, the Jordanian representative said that the international beauty exhibition which is slated for March 15 next year, provides a “unique opportunity” for the country’s industries to build partnerships and find new markets for the Jordanian products.

“The Jordanian chemical industries sector, including the cosmetics sector, exports around $1.5 billion annually and the cosmetics sector is a growing and very promising sector in the Kingdom,” Mohammad Bitar, vice chairman of the Jordan Chamber of Industry, said at the event, organised by the Trade Promotion Section of the Italian embassy, in cooperation with the Italian Trade Agency.

The exhibition, which will be held in Italy next year, will help Jordanian industries to reach to new customers, according to Bitar.

“In the cosmetics sector in Jordan, we succeeded in transferring the advanced know-how to the country and the cosmetics industries sector obtained several international certificates that enable it to enter more markets,” said Bitar.

“One key challenge the sector faces is exposure and the COSMOPROF Worldwide Bologna 2018 is the international hub where we are keen to promote the Jordanian products,” he added.

Stressing on the importance of participating in the exhibition, Alessio Ponz de Leon Pisani, Italian trade commissioner in Jordan, said the roadshow is part of a series of international roadshows held in several cities around the world.

The roadshow provides a platform for business to business meetings to build cooperation and increase business ties in the sector, he said.

Ayman AL Refai, vice president of the Dead Sea Products Manufacturers Association, said the exhibition will be a chance to promote Jordanian Dead Sea products to the rest of the world.

According to Francesca Maturi, a representative of Bologna FiereCosmoprof, some 2,677 exhibitors from 69 countries will take part in the exhibition and more than 250,000 people are expected to attend.

The exhibition provides a venue for building networks and partnerships in the fields of packaging, machinery, raw material and production, among others, Maturi said during the roadshow.
