Inflation up 0.6% in first four months of 2019

AMMAN — The inflation rate in the first third of 2019 rose by 0.6 per cent, compared with the same period of last year, the Department of Statistics (DoS) reported on Tuesday.
The increase was attributed to rising prices of beans and vegetables by 0.5 per cent, cereals and lentils by 0.32 per cent for each, education by 0.12 per cent and fuel and electricity by 0.08 per cent.
The DoS also added that price declines were witnessed in meat and poultry by 0.45 per cent, dairy products, eggs and transportation by 0.12 per cent and garments by 0.06 per cent.
