AMMAN – Border Guards killed one person near the northeastern border after he tried to enter Jordan coming from Syria late on Monday, a source from the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army (JAF) said on Tuesday.
Troops applied the rules of engagement followed in such cases, which led to the killing of the infiltrator on the Syrian side of the border, according to a JAF statement.
The army will deal with any attempt to illegally cross the border in either direction, and will respond to schemes to harm Jordan and Jordanians with necessary force, the official added in the statement.
The military announced the northern and eastern borders a sealed off military zone after seven soldiers, police personnel and a medic were killed in a terror attack on June 21, claimed by Daesh.
