Ineffective education policies to blame for weak Tawjihi results — UJ president

AMMAN — The low results of the General Secondary Education Certificate Examination (Tawjihi) students in the latest summer session are due to ineffective education policies and the lack of qualified teachers, University of Jordan (UJ) President Ekhleif Tarawneh said Thursday.
At a meeting held at UJ to discuss schools where no student passed Tawjihi, Tarawneh said advancing students who have failed in the elementary stage by default is also to blame for the weak results.
Speakers at the meeting called for monitoring teachers' performance and updating textbooks. No student at 338 schools passed Tawjihi this year.
