AMMAN — Marking Veterans Day, His Majesty King Abdullah, the Supreme Commander of the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army, on Saturday, reiterated support for military retirees.

In a tweet celebrating the occasion, His Majesty wrote: "This is your day; every national day is your day. Brothers in arms and veterans, I express full appreciation for your sacrifice, loyalty and continuous giving. Supporting you and improving your living conditions lie at the heart of our priorities and interests. Happy Veterans Day."

Under Royal directives issued in 2012, the country designated February 15 as a national day that recognises the service of veterans.

The Kingdom marked this day as the region continues to witness destructive wars and instability that give further reason to recognise the efforts of Jordanian army personnel — both those retired and those currently serving.
