Illegal workers given until October 1 to rectify status

AMMAN — The government on Wednesday gave guest workers, violating the Labour Law a grace period up to October 1 to rectify their statuses and renew their expired work permits in order to avoid deportation.

On its website (www.mol.gov.jo), the Labour Ministry published the names of guest workers with expired job permits for the year 2012-2013, saying it will continue its inspection campaign on workplaces which aims primarily at regulating the labour market and, gradually, replacing guest workers with Jordanians in various economic sectors.
