IEC to discuss election participation with parties

AMMAN — The Independent Elections Commission (IEC) is scheduled to hold a meeting with secretaries general and representatives of political parties in the Kingdom on Tuesday.

Mohammad Masalha, a member of the IEC board of commissioners, said on Monday that the meeting aims at highlighting the importance of political parties’ participation in elections, outlining their relationship with the IEC and discussing possible mechanisms to develop this cooperation.

He said the IEC seeks to start dialogue with political parties regarding its achievements and to assess its strengths and weaknesses.
