AMMAN — Chairman of the board of commissioners of the Independent Election Commission (IEC) Musa Maaytah on Tuesday met with USAID Administrator of Middle East Bureau for International Development Liz Ramirez and an accompanying delegation from the agency’s office in Amman over enhancing cooperation.

Maaytah expressed appreciation of the USAID efforts in support of the commission’s programmes, notably those related to electoral training activities, such as the “I participate” project, noting that the IEC has signed agreements with 27 private and public universities, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

Talks also expressed the commission’s keenness to realise the Royal vision pertaining to political reform, economic modernisation, increasing participation in elections, empowering women and youth and boosting participation in political parties.

Commending the IEC’s efforts, Ramirez emphasised the necessity of enhancing coordination with the IEC and supporting all stages of the electoral process.

She also met with a number of the participants of the “I participate” project, including university students, who reported the extent to which they benefited from the programme.
