AMMAN — Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Maj. Gen. Yousef Huneiti on Wednesday met with a delegation from the US House of Representatives, led by Congressman Mike Lawler, to discuss military cooperation and regional developments. The meeting, attended by senior officers from the Jordan Armed Forces- Arab Army (JAF), addressed ongoing defence collaboration between Jordan and the US, as well as regional and international issues of mutual concern, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported. Discussions focused on “key” developments in the Middle East, Jordan’s efforts in combating terrorism, and the role of JAF in safeguarding national and regional security.
Both sides exchanged views on shared security challenges and future areas of collaboration.
Huneiti highlighted the “strong” strategic partnership between the two armed forces, and commended the continued US support for the JAF, which has helped enhance its defence and technological capabilities.
The US delegates praised Jordan’s “pivotal” role in promoting regional stability, stressing the importance of continued military cooperation in addressing current security threats.
They also expressed appreciation for the professionalism and contributions of the JAF across various fields.
Also on Wednesday, Huneiti met with a military delegation from the United Arab Emirates, headed by Major General Salem Juma Kaabi.
The two sides discussed ways to boost military and security cooperation, focusing on joint training and defence collaboration aimed at promoting regional security and stability.
