AMMAN — The National Centre for Human Rights (NCHR) has contacted international and regional parties, embassies, and Arab and foreign organisations to encourage them to stand in solidarity with Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails, according to an NCHR statement.
The centre’s chief commissioner, Mousa Breizat, said that the international community must intensify attention to the humanitarian situation of the prisoners, especially in the face of “such blatant violations”, such as the harsh treatment they receive in Israeli prisons.
Prisoners announced a mass hunger strike on April 17 in conjunction with Palestinian Prisoners’ Day. Breizat also warned of the risk of deteriorating health of prisoners if the strike continues.
