HPC joins global refugee health network

AMMAN — The University of Edinburgh and the University of the West of Scotland on Wednesday announced a partnership with various Jordanian and Ugandan institutions, including the Higher Population Council (HPC), to tackle refugee health issues.

The partnership comes as part of the launch of the Global Refugee Health Research Network.

The platform aims to connect academics across disciplines and regions to analyse refugee health requirements and come up with practical solutions, according to an HPC statement.

The network, by providing a platform that enables participants to arrive at a consensus on refugee health challenges and needs, ensures that health services during humanitarian crises abide by human rights standards, the HPC said.

Moreover, the network aims to provide participants with opportunities to exchange information, access resources and share ideas and experiences with regards to responding to refugee healthcare needs, the statement said.
