AMMAN — Lower House Speaker Mazen Qadi on Sunday conveyed His Majesty King Abdullah’s greetings to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, expressing the Kingdom's commitment to enhancing coordination and consultation to serve mutual interests and bolster cooperation.

During the meeting, President Aliyev expressed his country's “deep” appreciation for Jordan's pivotal role, under the leadership of His Majesty, in promoting regional peace, security, and stability, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

He also highlighted the “deep-rooted” bilateral ties, the foundations of which were laid by His Majesty the late King Hussein and the late President Heydar Aliyev.

"I share a deep brotherly relationship with my brother, His Majesty King Abdullah, and we remain in constant contact," Aliyev said.

He added that Azerbaijan attaches great importance to the ongoing coordination with Jordan across various fields to serve the interests of both nations and promote regional stability and cooperation.

The Azerbaijani president added that Baku views Amman as an important partner and values its wise stances and efforts in supporting dialogue and understanding among peoples, noting that recent years have witnessed significant development in bilateral relations at the political, economic, cultural, and parliamentary levels.

Qadi stressed that Jordanian-Azerbaijani relations represent an “exemplary” model of ties based on mutual respect and understanding, pointing out that these relations receive direct support and attention from King Abdullah and President Aliyev.

He stressed the Lower House's keenness to maintain continuous coordination with the Azerbaijani parliament and work jointly to overcome any obstacles hindering the development of ties, as well as to enhance parliamentary, economic, and investment cooperation.

He added that the Lower Chamber attaches “great” importance to boosting parliamentary relations with Azerbaijan and exchanging legislative expertise, which would positively serve the mutual interests of both countries and their peoples.

Qadi also commended Azerbaijan's developmental and economic achievements in recent years, stressing the importance of expanding cooperation between the private sectors of both nations, encouraging mutual investments, and establishing new economic partnerships in industry, tourism, food security, and technology.

Qadi is currently visiting Azerbaijan to head a parliamentary delegation participating in the conference of the Parliamentary Union of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation Member States (PUIC).

During the visit, Qadi is scheduled to meet with Speaker of the Azerbaijani National Assembly Sahiba Gafarova, and several senior officials.
