AMMAN — The Lower House’s Legal Committee on Monday endorsed the 2015 amendments to the Independent Elections Commission (IEC) Law.
MP Mustafa Amawi, head of the panel, said the amendments aim at expanding the IEC’s jurisdiction to be able to manage and supervise elections according to international standards.
He added that the amendments are in line with Article 67 of the Constitution which gives the IEC the right to administer parliamentary and municipal elections, in addition to any other polls assigned by the government.
