AMMAN — The Palestinian cause is the "main and pivotal" issue for the Arab nation and the Jordanian people, and is a priority for His Majesty King Abdullah at all international and official events, Chair of the Lower House Foreign Affairs Committee MP Khaldoun Hina said on Wednesday.

Speaking at the committee's meeting with the Chinese Ambassador in Jordan Chen Chuandong, Hina called for more efforts to support the Middle East peace process and end its stalemate, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Hina also described the bilateral relations between the Kingdom and China as "distinguished", which requires the two countries to exert more efforts to develop ties in various fields, adding that Jordan is still suffering from difficult economic conditions, as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The MP that noted Jordan is still bearing the repercussions of the various refugee crises, which have put an additional strain on its already limited resources and infrastructure.

The diplomat praised Jordan's “firm” role in bringing peace to the region and its close connection to the Palestinian cause and the legitimate rights of its people.

He also commended the Kingdom's political reforms, saying that Jordan and China are living a "new and historic" stage, which puts the two countries under a "remarkable" challenge to develop their political and economic approach.

The Chinese diplomat also referred to the continuous Jordanian-Chinese cooperation, noting that the bilateral relations are "deep-rooted" and China always seeks to develop them, especially in the economic fields by increasing Chinese investments in Jordan, especially in the fields of energy, telecommunications, transportation, agriculture, green economy, digital economy and smart manufacturing.
