AMMAN — The Lower House on Tuesday called on the government to expel the Israeli ambassador to the Kingdom, citing the occupation authorities’ closure of Al Aqsa Mosque.
In a statement worded by the House’s Palestine Committee, MPs also called for recalling the Jordanian ambassador in Tel Aviv, condemning the frequent assaults of the “Zionist entity” on Al Aqsa Mosque-Al Haram Al Sharif, the worshippers and awqaf staff in the Holy City.
The committee affirmed its rejection to unilateral Israeli practices, which constitute “violations to human rights, religions and international conventions”.
The committee considers the occupation authorities’ measures against Islamic and Christian holy places in Jerusalem as a new dangerous turn that provokes Muslims’ sentiments around the world.
The panel added that the Israeli acts are a form of racial, regional and sectarian segregation that lead to terrorism and hate speech, which threaten the entire region’s stability.
In addition to Arab and Islamic parliaments, the committee called on regional and international players to take necessary measures to end the “Zionist acts of discrimination” and to counter the Israeli attempts to change the status quo of Al Aqsa Mosque.
The Foreign Ministry on Monday condemned “in the strongest possible terms” the Israeli closure of Al Aqsa Mosque/Al Haram Al Sharif in occupied Jerusalem and the assaults on worshippers.
