House committee discusses draft law to regulate investment environment

AMMAN — Head of the Lower House’s Economy and Investment Committee Khair Abu Salik on Sunday said that the committee launched a series of discussions focusing on the draft law regulating the investment environment for the year 2022, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The draft law was discussed during the committee's meeting, in the presence of Minister of Investment Khairy Amr, Secretary-General of the Investment Ministry Zaher Qatarneh, heads of the Chambers of Commerce of Jordan, Zarqa, Maan and a number of stakeholders,
During the meeting, Abu Salik said that the committee will submit a set of recommendations to the Cabinet, stipulating the establishment of an industrial city in Zarqa.
In turn, the committee’s members stressed the importance of attracting investment to Jordan to provide job opportunities for Jordanians and reduce unemployment rates.
They pointed out that the “abundance of laws, regulations and instructions hinders investment”.
Amr said that the draft law comes to enhance competitiveness between various sectors in a fair manner, describing the bill as “a starting point” for improving the Kingdom’s investment environment.
