AMMAN — The Ministry of Health called on hospitals and healthcare centres to report suspected cases of hepatitis in children below the age of 16. The ministry said that the World Health Organisation (WHO) has announced that several countries reported unusual cases of hepatitis of unknown sources in children.
The symptoms include jaundice, diarrhoea, vomiting and abdominal pain, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The confirmed cases are cases presenting an acute hepatitis (non-hepatitis viruses A, B, C, D, E) with aspartate transaminase (AST) or Alanine transaminase (ALT) over 500 U/L.
