AMMAN — The “Himmat Watan” Fund committee on Tuesday decided to present JD19 million to the National Aid Fund and boost support for the "Takaful 2" programme for June while monitoring the quality of the programme's performance amid the coronavirus pandemic. In a statement, Himmat Watan Fund Deputy Chairman Jamal Sarayrah said that the fund’s committee conducted a comprehensive evaluation of the efforts of social protection programmes sponsored by the Ministry of Social Development in cooperation with Jordanian charities and other volunteers, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Based on the evaluation, the fund agreed to continue supporting these efforts after reviewing amendments to the approved foundations, in addition to looking into the need for programmes and initiatives to support self-employed individuals, who were not covered by the Social Security Fund, Sarayrah added.
He commended those who have contributed to the fund, urging others who have not donated to make contributions to alleviate the humanitarian, social and economic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.
