HCD calls for investigation after video shows abuse of person with disabilities

AMMAN — The Higher Council for Affairs of Persons with Disabilities (HCD) on Monday issued a statement condemning a video circulating on social media that purpurtedly shows an attack on a person with disabilities, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The statement said that the council is concerned with the video, praising the immediate response of security services to investigate the video.

The statement stressed the need to deal firmly with such “outrageous violations”, noting that the recent amendments to the Penal Code consider disability of the victims as an aggravating circumstance in abuse crimes. HCD, in cooperation with governmental and non-governmental parties, seeks to promote awareness about the rights of persons with disabilities.
