AMMAN — Senate President Faisal Fayez on Thursday congratulated Their Majesties King Abdullah and Queen Rania on receiving the Path to Peace Award in New York.
In press remarks, Fayez expressed the Senate’s pride in His Majesty's role in maintaining regional security and stability, expressing appreciation of His Majesty's efforts towards supporting the Palestinians to meet their legitimate rights, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The Hashemite Custodianship over Jerusalem's Islamic and Christian holy sites has prevented the Judaisation of Jerusalem and preserved the holy city's legal and historical status quo, he said, stressing that the Hashemite Custodianship is "a red line".
Also on Thursday, during a joint Parliament session, Fayez expressed the Senate condemnation of the "assassination" of veteran Palestinian journalist Shireen Abu Akleh, calling for an immediate probe to hold perpetrators accountable.
