AMMAN — The Youth, Technology and Jobs Project (YTJ) is a key facilitator of Jordan's National Digital Transformation Strategy for the 2021-2025 period, Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship Ahmad Hanandeh said on Wednesday.
This project, which was launched by the government in 2020 with a budget of $200 million from the World Bank, aims to support the growth of digital companies and freelancing platforms in Jordan.
Its ultimate goal is to help these entities access both regional and global markets and create job opportunities for the country's youth, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
Hanandeh noted that the project is built around eight core pillars. The first pillar is the establishment of the Digital Skills Association, which will train 15,000 young men and women with digital skills.
A new curriculum for government school students from grades 7 to 12 will also be developed as part of this initiative.
Additionally, the project seeks to support the growth of digital companies in Jordan, providing 10,000 new job opportunities.
It also aims to create three technology centres to serve as spaces for learning and collaborative work.
