Hajj, umra companies referred to prosecutor over irregularities

AMMAN — Awqaf Minister Wael Arabiyat on Tuesday decided to refer companies facilitating travel for Hajj and umra to the prosecutor general for violating laws and regulations, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The companies allegedly received money in return for issuing visas for the previous Muslim greater pilgrimage season “through unknown means”, according to the ministry’s media office.

People who filed the complaints against the companies supplied evidence that showed that the agencies had also received money before the Hajj season and have not returned it, according to Petra.
