Gov’t to purchase Risha power plant

AMMAN — The government has made agreements to purchase the Risha power generation plant for JD550,000, a move that will help save more than JD2 million per year, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Saleh Kharabsheh said on Thursday. The ministry has considered several options pertaining to the expiration of the agreement with the Risha power plant, which resulted in a temporary suspension of gas production from the Risha field, Kharabsheh said, noting that discussions led to buying the plant, according to a ministry statement. The deal includes two on-site gas turbines as well as administrative buildings, the minister added.
