Gov’t lowers fuel prices for September

Price of cooking gas cylinder remains unchanged at JD7

AMMAN — The government’s fuel pricing committee on Tuesday decided to lower the prices of a number of fuel derivatives for September.

The committee’s decision will decrease the price of one litre of unleaded 90-octane gasoline by JD0.015, leaving the price at JD0.815 in September, according to an Energy Ministry statement.

The price per litre of unleaded 95-octane gasoline will decrease to JD1.050 in September from JD1.070 in August.

The prices of diesel and kerosene will also decrease to JD0.605 per litre from JD0.615 in August.

However, the price of cooking gas cylinder will remain unchanged at JD7, read the statement.

Prices of oil derivatives in the local market are calculated based on international prices, in addition to other costs, such as shipping and taxes.

The committee said that it referred to international oil prices when making the decision. The international oil prices showed that the cost of a barrel of crude Brent oil in August stood at $70.7, compared with $75 in July.

The Energy and Minerals Regulatory Commission on Tuesday also decided to maintain the “differences in fuel prices” category on monthly electricity bills for September at zero fils per kilowatt-hour, according to a commission statement.
