Gov’t changes controversial civil service evaluation system

AMMAN — The government on Monday scrapped the normative distribution appraisal mechanism for public sector employees, which was rejected by various professional syndicates.
Prime Minister Omar Razzaz and professional union leaders discussed evaluation mechanisms and agreed that the appraisal was to be conducted this year without the normative distribution criteria.
Meanwhile, the government would work out a new appraisal system as of 2019 for public sector employees and civil servants, according to a Cabinet statement.
