Government allocated JD45 million to address unemployment — minister

AMMAN — Labour Minister Ali Ghezawi on Saturday said the government allocated JD45 million to implement the basics of its programmes to address unemployment.
At a meeting with members of the Zarqa Chamber of Industry, Ghezawi expressed shock that unemployment in Zarqa stood at 16 per cent, noting that there were serious procedures to stop the employment of guest workers, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Fares Hammoudeh, the president of the chamber, said the facility was working with stakeholders to establish an industrial estate on 2,400 dunums of land, which would provide 20,000 to 25,000 jobs on completion.
