AMMAN –– The government on Monday started to pay part of its accumulated dues to medium-sized contractors, a sector representative said.
Ziad Sakran, board member of the Jordan Construction Contractors Association, told The Jordan Times that the Finance Ministry paid some of the dues to a number of contractors, adding that the government is expected to pay more contractors on Tuesday and Wednesday.
According to Sakran, the government owes small- and medium-sized contractors who carried out agricultural roads across the Kingdom around JD18 million, noting that the government has previously pledged to transfer around JD14 million.
