AMMAN — A German delegation of the Connective Cities organisation and the Berlin Municipality on Tuesday visited the Greater Jerash Municipality to inspect the level of services provided to the city’s local community.
Jerash Mayor Ali Gogazeh reviewed the biggest challenges facing the city as a result of successive refugee influxes.
Jerash has suffered the greater consequences of the waves of refugees, according to Gogazeh, especially in the last three years, with the influx of Syrian refugees and guest workers, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
He said that the municipality witnessed bigger pressures on services and public facilities and an increase in waste volume, which necessitated the municipality to implement several initiatives with the support of the local community, including Syrians.
