GDP records 2% growth in Q1 2024 - DoS

Department of Statistics says that the Gross Domestic Product record a growth of 2 per cent at constant prices during the first quarter of 2024 compared with the first quarter of 2023 (JT file)
AMMAN — The Gross Domestic Product (GDP) recorded a growth of 2 per cent at constant prices during the first quarter of 2024 compared with the first quarter of 2023.
The quarterly report of the Department of Statistics (DoS), released on Thursday, indicated that preliminary estimates showed that the majority of economic sectors achieved growth during the first quarter of 2024 compared to the first quarter of 2023.
The extractive industries sector achieved the highest growth rate during this period at 6.3 per cent, contributing 0.18 percentage points to the overall growth rate.
It was followed by the agriculture sector with a growth rate of 5.7 per cent, contributing 0.30 percentage points. The electricity and water sector grew by 4.8 per cent, contributing 0.07 percentage points.
The manufacturing sector grew by 3.9 per cent, contributing 0.67 percentage points to the overall growth rate.
