AMMAN — The Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) on Tuesday endorsed its 2021 draft budget, amounting to JD471.444 million.

The GAM council, during a meeting chaired by Amman Mayor Yousef Shawarbeh, also passed 2022-2023 indicative budgets, including the public transport account, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The draft budget, recommended by the GAM council’s committee of financial planning and economic development, includes self-revenues estimated at JD270.707 million, nearly JD164.117 million for funding resources, JD14.620 million as grants, JD14.5 million for fuel revenues, as well as JD7.5 million for acquisition of Abdali and investment projects.

The estimated expenditures totalled JD471.444 million, including current expenditures of JD222.439 million and capital expenditures of more than JD249 million.

Shawarbeh, during the virtual meeting, highlighted GAM’s efforts towards expenditure rationalisation, in a way that does not affect the provision of public services.

The council also approved a 75-per cent duties exemption for horticultural exports in 2021 and the decision will be referred to the Cabinet for approval.
