Friday first day of Shaban

AMMAN — Chief Islamic Justice Ahmad Hilayel on Thursday announced that Friday, May 30, is the first day of Shaban, the eighth month in the Islamic lunar calendar, which is followed by the holy month of Ramadan.

The Hijri calendar’s months begin when the first crescent of a new moon is sighted.
