AMMAN — The Fourth Economic Empowerment Conference, titled “In Investing We Build”, kicked off on Tuesday in Hebron, with the participation of a Jordanian economic delegation comprising employers from various economic sectors.

The conference, organised by the Palestinian Business Forum in Hebron, is being held in cooperation with the Jordanian-Palestinian Business Forum as well as the Palestinian Ministry of National Economy, under the patronage of Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh.

Palestinian Minister of National Economy Khaled Al Osaily stressed that investment has contributed to empowering the Palestinian people and building an economy independent of the occupation.

He also noted the need to increase Palestine’s trade with Jordan to $1 billion, with support from the two countries’ leadership to promote intra-national trade and remove barriers to trade.

Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Palestinian-Jordanian Business Forum Nazmi Atma affirmed the forum’s endeavour to reach out to the Palestinian business community, build stronger economic partnerships and establish investment projects to serve Jordanian and Palestinian economies as a means to uplift the economy of the broader Arab region through Jordan.

He added that Jordan is fulfilling its duty to support the Palestinian people by representing the Palestinian cause in international forums, in addition to the Hashemite Custodianship over Jerusalem’s Islamic and Christian sites.

President of the Board of Directors of the Palestinian Business Forum, Amer Al Osaili, commended Jordan’s efforts and the resources offered by the Jordanian government to Palestinian business owners in offering them many advantages, including allowing the establishment of a regional office for Palestinian companies in Amman, which helps Palestinian businesses expand exports and facilitate the conduct of their business as well as expand to new markets.
