Former police chief Mohammad Idris laid to rest

AMMAN — Former Public Security Department director Lt. Gen. Mohammad Idris was laid to rest on Wednesday at Naour Cemetery in Amman.

Born in 1924, Idris joined the army in 1949 and held several posts during his career, such as deputy chairman of the joint chiefs-of-staff for operations, chairman of the joint chiefs-of-staff, military secretary and PSD director between 1981 and 1984, according to a PSD statement.

Chairman of the Joint Chiefs-of-Staff Gen. Mashal Al Zaben, PSD Director Gen. Tawfiq Tawalbeh, Civil Defence Department Director Lt. Gen. Talal Kofahi and Gendarmerie Department Director Maj. Gen. Ahmad Sweilmin attended the funeral.
