Former Jordan Times editor passes away

AMMAN — Former managing editor at The Jordan Times and veteran journalist, Maaz Shukayr, passed away on Tuesday, aged 86, his family announced.
Shukayr had served at the paper since its inception in 1976 and left in 1980. His long media career included 17 years with Radio Jordan’s English programmes.
He also served with Radio Kuwait, Jerusalem Star, Palestine News and as general manager at Shukayr & Akasheh — a media and printing services company.
His portfolio also encompassed communication and editing roles at the Noor Al Hussein Foundation and Arab Multi-Media, in addition to being the editor of Dirasat, the University of Jordan’s scientific research journal and the University of Yarmouk’s Abhath periodical.
The Jordan Times team offers its condolences to the family of Shukayr; may he rest in peace.
