AMMAN — An official source from the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army on Monday said Border Guards on Sunday foiled an attempt by a man with a foreign nationality to cross the Jordanian border into a neighbouring country.

Border Guards applied the rules of engagement observed under such circumstances and arrested the man.

During the past 24 hours, border guards received 304 Syrian refugees, and they were sent to shelters and camps set up to receive them, an army source said Monday, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

Royal Medical Services cadres treated the injured.

By the end of 2015, army medics had treated 3,491 injured refugees, according to official figures.

The army has spent more than JD1 billion in refugee-related expenditures since the Syrian crisis started some five years ago.
