AMMAN — The Foreign Ministry on Thursday summoned the Charge d'Affairs at the Swedish embassy in Amman to protest the Swedish government's decision to allow an extremist, for the second time, to burn a copy of the Holy Koran in Stockholm.
The ministry condemned the act, describing it as "an expression of cultural hatred, and a crude offence to the religious sentiments of about two billion Muslims, which in no way can be justified under the freedom of expression”.
The ministry reiterated the need for the Swedish government to prevent the recurrence of these acts, as they violate joint human values, incite violence, embody a dangerous culture of hatred and racism and reflect a sign of Islamophobia that Jordan utterly condemns, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
