AMMAN — The Foreign Ministry said on Sunday that 46 out of 63 Jordanians that it plans to evacuate from war-torn Gaza have arrived to the Kingdom through the Rafah crossing border.
Ministry Spokesperson Sufian Qudah said in a statement that 41 of the evacuees were transported to the Kingdom via an Arab Bridge Maritime Company ferry in coordination with the Ministry of Transport.
He added that the ferry arrived at the port of Aqaba from Nuweibaa on Sunday evening and that the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority provided the evacuees with medical care and arranged their transportation to Amman.
He also said that five evacuees have reached Cairo.
Qudah also said that 712 Jordanians have been evacuated from Gaza out of 1,153 registered in the ministry’s database, adding that a team from the Jordanian embassy in Egypt is present on the Egyptian side of the Rafah crossing since the beginning of the evacuation operations from Gaza.
Qudah called on Jordanians in Gaza to contact the ministry's Operations and Consular Affairs Directorate for assistance around the clock through the following numbers: 00962799562903, 00962799562471, and 00962799562193, or via e-mail at.
