Foreign Ministry follows up on persons arrested in Kenya

AMMAN — The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates on Friday said that it is following up on a number of persons who have violated the terms of the Kenyan tourist visa last Friday.

Ministry's spokesperson Haitham Abu Alfoul said that the Kenyan authorities in Mombasa contacted the Jordanian embassy in Nairobi about the arrest of a number of persons accused of panhandling, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

He added that the Jordanian embassy immediately contacted the Kenyan authorities. The embassy in Nairobi has provided the ministry's operations centre with information regarding the return of these persons to Jordan.

Abu Al Foul said that the embassy in Nairobi has followed up on their departure from Mombasa, Thursday, towards the Kenyan capital, Nairobi, which is about 500km from Mombasa.
