AMMAN — The Foreign Ministry on Wednesday stressed that it was following up on information it received two days earlier about a young Jordanian woman who was kidnapped and mistreated in Libya.
Spokesperson Deifallah Fayez said that the ministry, through its operations centre, is in constant communication with Libyan authorities through the Libyan embassy in Amman, which, the latter, stressed that Libyan authorities took the necessary legal and security procedures and moved the woman to a safe place.
Libyan authorities said that legal actions were being taken against the perpetrators, Fayez said in a ministry statement.
He noted that the ministry is in contact with Libyan authorities to receive information on the case and offer support and help to the Jordanian citizen, adding that ministry officials are in direct contact with her family in the Kingdom to keep them updated with any developments.
He praised the prompt efforts made by Libyan authorities in the case.
