AMMAN — Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi on Sunday received a delegation from The Elders, an independent group of global leaders working for peace and human rights.
The delegation included former President of Ireland Mary Robinson, former Prime Minister of New Zealand Helen Clark, Deputy Chair of The Elders Graça Machel, and human rights activist Hina Jilani, according to a Foreign Ministry statement.
Safadi briefed the delegation on regional developments and the ongoing efforts to restore security and stability while ending the escalation in the region.
Reviewing developments in the occupied Palestinian territories, Safadi stressed the necessity of sustaining the ceasefire in Gaza and fully implementing all components of US President Donald Trump's plan.
He also warned against illegal Israeli measures in the occupied West Bank, which undermine the two-state solution and the chances of achieving a just and comprehensive peace, stressing the need for collective action to stop these actions.
Safadi outlined Jordan's consistent efforts to anchor security and stability in the region, noting the Kingdom's commitment to resolving crises through dialogue, peaceful means, and adherence to international law.
Founded by Nelson Mandela in 2007, The Elders is an independent group of global leaders working together to promote peace, justice, human rights and a sustainable planet.
