AMMAN — Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi on Saturday urged the international community to act immediately and effectively to stop the Israeli aggression in the Gaza Strip and provide protection for Gazans.
In a phone call with UN Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process Tor Wennesland, Safadi underlined that continued Israeli aggression would prompt large-scale cycles of violence, for which everyone will bear the consequences, said a Foreign Ministry statement.
The two sides discussed efforts exerted to cease the aggression and end the escalation which portends greater consequences.
Safadi also stressed the importance of preventing any provocative acts at Al Aqsa Mosque/Al Haram Al Sharif, reiterating the need to respect the historical and legal status quo to fend off further escalation.
