FM expresses condolences to Vietnam over victims of Aqaba gas leak

AMMAN — Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi on Wednesday called Vietnamese Minister of Foreign Affairs Bùi Thanh Son and expressed condolences of the Kingdom to the families of the five Vietnamese citizens who lost their lives in the toxic gas leak incident at the Aqaba port on Monday. Safadi also briefed Son on the condition of seven Vietnamese citizens who were injured in the incident and are receiving treatment in Jordanian hospitals, emphasising that the injured are receiving all necessary medical care, according to a ministry statement.
The Vietnamese minister expressed his country’s condolences to the families of the eight Jordanians who lost their lives in the tragic incident, stressing Vietnam’s solidarity with the Kingdom. He also expressed appreciation of Jordan for effective communication and healthcare offered to the injured Vietnamese. Safadi told Son that the government has started an official investigation into the incident and that the Vietnamese authorities will be acquainted with its results.
