AMMAN — Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh on Tuesday participated in the fourth joint ministerial meeting of foreign ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and foreign ministers of Jordan and Morocco.
At the meeting, held in Qatar, Judeh expressed Jordan’s appreciation for the $5 billion GCC grant, to be spent over five years, to help Jordan respond to economic challenges, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
He also reaffirmed Jordan’s moderate stance on regional issues in Palestine, Syria, Iraq and Libya, in addition to the Kingdom’s efforts in fighting terrorism and extremism.
During a GCC summit in December 2011, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait and Qatar decided to extend $5 billion in financial aid for development schemes in Jordan over a five-year period, with each state contributing $1.25 billion.
Qatar is the only GCC member that has not paid any part of its contribution to Jordan.
