AMMAN — The Foreign Ministry announced that the first Jordanian land aid convoys arrived in Syria early on Friday.

The convoys, consisting of seven trucks laden with food, relief and medical supplies, were dispatched in coordination with the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organisation (JHCO) through the reciprocal transfer system, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The convoys were delivered to Syrian stakeholders and their supplies were unloaded onto the Syrian Red Crescent trucks at the Jordanian-Syrian border centre (Jaber-Naseeb), to be delivered to affected areas in Syria. Ministry Spokesperson Sinan Majali said that the Kingdom, in implementation of Royal directives, continues to assist the families of the victims and those injured in the earthquake that struck Syria and Turkey.

Jordanian consul in Damascus Anwar Beddawi extended his condolences to the victims' families and wished the injured a speedy recovery, voicing the Kingdom's solidarity with the Syrian people during these difficult times.
