AMMAN — The government’s economic team on Saturday approved a Cabinet recommendation to extend the exemption period from the fines imposed on taxpayers for one month.
During a meeting, headed by Prime Minister Omar Razzaz, the team said that this will be the last extension given to taxpayers, a move that is in line with the Income Tax Law, which allows granting exemptions for 180 days, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The decision follows the “big” turnout of taxpayers to pay their due amounts after the government had decided to exempt them from fines, and to give them an opportunity to benefit from the possibility to pay the money in instalments.
